Inspired By
While our foundation is Dunaj Institute and Hizmet principles, we are deeply inspired by the theological groundwork laid by key interfaith documents
Nostra Aetate โ
Declaration on Non-Christian Religions โข 1965
The Second Vatican Council's groundbreaking declaration that transformed Catholic-Jewish relations and opened new paths for dialogue with all religions.
"The Catholic Church rejects nothing that is true and holy in these religions... The Church, therefore, exhorts her sons... to enter with prudence and charity into discussion and collaboration with members of other religions."
Why it matters: Nostra Aetate established a foundation for respectful dialogue, recognizing truth and holiness in other faith traditions โ a principle that continues to inspire interfaith work today.
Fratelli Tutti โ
Encyclical on Fraternity and Social Friendship โข 2020
Pope Francis's encyclical calling for a renewed sense of universal fraternity and social friendship that transcends borders and differences.
"Fraternity and social friendship are ways I have chosen to promote a better, more just and fraternal world... recognizing the essential equality of all people."
Why it matters: Fratelli Tutti reminds us that dialogue is not just academic โ it's about building real friendships across divides, creating a more just and peaceful world for all.
Our Approach: We honor these documents as important theological contributions to interfaith dialogue while building our own path grounded in the Hizmet tradition's emphasis on education, service, and genuine relationship-building across all faith communities.
Our Journey
The Seed
Dunaj Instytut Dialogu, inspired by the Hizmet movement's commitment to intercultural dialogue, saw the need for a dedicated space where young people could engage deeply with different faith traditions through Scriptural Reasoning.
First Gathering
Our inaugural Interfaith Camping (2025) brought together students and scholars from diverse religious backgrounds for two days of learning, sharing, and community building at the Focolare Community.
Growing Circle
What started as a single event has grown into a movement โ regular SR sessions, interfaith fraternity camping, workshops, and a vibrant community of dialogue practitioners from around the world.
Looking Ahead
Our vision is to create a global network of interfaith dialogue practitioners โ people who don't just talk about peace, but actively build it through genuine relationships, mutual learning, and shared commitment to the common good.
